Buffkin\/Baker was proud to partner with the University in this national\u00a0search\u00a0led by\u00a0Martin Baker\u00a0and\u00a0Chelsie Whitelock, CDR.<br \/><br \/>With a 25-year career in higher education, Slabach has spent the last 12 years as president of Texas Wesleyan University. Before his role as President, he taught law for over a decade at Texas Wesleyan, the Florida Coastal School of Law, and Whittier Law School. He served as the\u00a0dean\u00a0of the Texas Wesleyan Law School from 2003 to 2006.<br \/><br \/>Slabach is a 1982 UM law graduate and holds a degree in\u00a0political science from Mississippi College and a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School. Recognized for his\u00a0leadership and\u00a0service, Slabach received the 2019 District IV Chief Executive Leadership Award from the\u00a0Counsel for Advancement and Support of Education, the Stevens Award in 2003, and Elmer B. Staats Public\u00a0Service\u00a0Award in 1995, both from the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation.
